Sneak Peek!
Here's the update on the downstairs bathroom. Progress from this past week, hoping to finish by next weekend!
old wall gone and room gutted, studs in old closet doorway, and plywood down on the flooring
insulation
drywall up (except for piece in top right corner there)
drywall mudding--contractor is doing this, hooray!
bathroom setup. the sink and toilet aren't set yet or anything. the contractor has to finish sanding the mudding, do the ceiling texture, and then we are going to paint first before laying the tile and installing the sink and toilet. but we set them there for now so we can make marks for where the plumbing needs to go
wall color: vanilla brandy. aqua/teal color is going to be the accent color in the decor.
tile choice
playroom: old closet doorway is drywalled over.

Carter--6 months!
Oh I cannot BELIEVE my sweet baby boy is 1/2 a year old already! I'd be lying if I told you I wasn't getting a tad emotional about that. Especially when we really think this is our last babe, I hate feeling like these moments are slipping through my fingers! 6 months is one of my FAVORITE ages! Playful and entertainable, sitting so you can plop 'em down when you need your hands free, not crawling all over the nasty floor yet, and not mobile enough to get into too much, totally smiley and happy and talkative, and old enough they're settling into good sleep routines. So so fun, lovable, and squeezable!! Oh I just LOVE. THIS. BOY!
No, he didn't actually fall asleep in the grass but I love that it totally looks like it. Was getting sleepy though.
and the camera completely fogged over because of the heat and humidity so I had to call it quits
UPDATES:
* Naps from 9-11ish and 1-3ish, catnaps sometime around 5 or 6pm and goes to bed at 8pm. I stopped waking him up again at 10pm and I'm happy to say the last couple nights he slept all the way from 8pm 'til almost 5am! We're getting there! And then he eats and is back to sleep 'til 6:30/7ish, if Big Bro doesn't wake him up first.
* He's getting harder to nap anywhere besides in his bed unless we're driving. Most of the time anymore he wakes up as soon as we get "there" so if we're running several errands he'll end up being awake the whole time, or at church, or at swim lessons, or at the rodeo. He's a very happy baby even when I know he's really tired.
* He doesn't really taken his binky anymore, it's been so long since we've used it. And I'm hoping he still does fine with a bottle!
* He squeals and shrieks instead of giggles. I love it. =)
* The biggest milestone of this month is that he learned to sit up toward the beginning of the month is quite sturdy now! He still tips over but not enough to warrant surrounding him with extra support.
* He's Mr. Grabbypants now and will reach for anything that's near him. So watch out!
* He stuffs everything in his mouth ALL the time, but mostly his hands. No teeth yet though.
* Food: we've tried cereal several times. The first couple times he seemed to like it and almost seemed to fuss if we didn't feed him fast enough. But since then he's not been liking it. I've been trying to find the right consistency or make it with breastmilk vs water, and haven't noticed any preference. So this morning I went ahead and tried some banana. He actually ate a little bit!
* I don't have his weight and measurements yet. With Eli's swim lessons still going on this week, we'll have to wait 'til next week to get him in for his appointment.
* Eyes are still sparkly gray. But the hair is losing that red tint he had in his earlier months.
Oh, I am so thankful he's a part of our family!!

Swim lessons!
At somewhat the last minute I realized that maybe Eli should start swim lessons so I signed him up! M-Th for 2 weeks at 9:45-10:45 with Friday as the make-up day should we be rained out earlier in the week. That wasn't too much of a time commitment, Kevin's off for the second week so I thought it might be a good time to go for it!
Monday was our first day. It was drizzly and something like 68 degrees. The poor kids were FREEZING! I still had family in town from our 4th of July shindig so I had them stay around a little longer to watch Hannah and Carter so I could just take Eli alone and help him get settled. He was shy but when it was time to head to the pool he followed his class without any crying, so I was relieved! I felt bad that I still hadn't taken the kids to the pool before this, so a lot of things were new to him but he was a good sport about it. There are about 13 kids and 4 instructors. He's one of the shortest in the class and because he's shy, he needs a little more help but the lifeguards are good with him. He's one of the last to get in the water and one of the last to participate in each activity, but in the end he does do it. And I'm proud of him!
When we got back home that first day, Hannah threw a big fit about wanting to swim too. So the rest of this week I've been dropping her off at a friend's to play while the boys and I go to lessons. It would be a long hour for her to just sit and wait poolside. And while I know the park is right next-door, I really like to watch Eli and see what he's learning and how he's doing. So this is working. And this is my big boy in his first organized anything!
I've also come to realize how nice our town's pool is! It's sectioned off nicely with a 3 ft section, a 4ft section, the slide area, the deepend and diving board area, and then completely fenced off is the baby pool. Maybe just maybe I can brave bringing the kids there on my own!

4th of July Fun!
We had all the family over for 4th of July. Everyone arrived around 3pm, we hung out, enjoyed some delicious food (hamburgers, pasta salad, potato salad, bean salsa, watermelon, birthday cake, and homemade ice cream). My Grandma and Grandpa happened to be visiting at the time so they were able to join in on the festivities! Then as it started to get dark we went outside for some 4th of July fun! It was a really REALLY great day!!

I love all the things going on in this picture. My Grandpa is holding Carter, Paul and Holly are smooching, Linda is playing blocks, and though you can't see him (because I couldn't step back far enough with the camera) Ward is playing with Hannah.
My mom's birthday is the 3rd, so we had a little celebration for her 50th birthday while we were all gathered

After a day of rain, the sun finally came out and covered everything with a blanket of gold--it was a beautiful evening!

I LOVE how relaxed and content Eli is here with my uncle Ward. Reminds me how WONDERFUL it is to be so close to family now, such that the kids can build their own relationships with everyone. Such a blessing!

After sparklers we did fireworks that Kevin had bought in town. But I didn't bother trying to take pictures then. We just enjoyed, and now we're already excited for next year!
